hi all!

i see theres quite a few new people on the list, welcome -- hope you stick around!

i've gotten a few e-mails, most asking about parts. to answer briefly:

  • i will provide information on the flowmeter; i'm negotiating purchasing a big batch of them so we can save some cash. will hopefully hear back on this tuesday.
  • code/schematics/etc all GPL -- need a couple more days to clean things up
  • i have enough parts to sell kits, saving some of the one-off cost that you'd get by ordering from digikey. but i'll also provide a parts list. again, need a day or two here to get this done

will post a trip report and some pictures tonight! cheers, mike

Welcome back,

A group buy for thigns would be fantastic.. Particularly the flow meters. I'm itching with suspense to hear which one you use.

Also, I saw that you don't have any issues with foam passing through the flow meter. What about thicker beers like hefeweizen (unfiltered wheat beers) and Chimay (delicious living beer)?

I'd def be interested in the group buy..

My interest really perked when I saw the CrystalFontz LCD.. I already have that in my Linux box right next to my Kegerator, now I'm itching to break out the dremel and mount that sucker in the freezer door.

Happy Drinking,

I'm happy to say that I'm one of those new people. I plan to stick around.. at lease come back in about 3 and a half years and I turn 21.. or maybe I'll just build one in college and let other people buy the beer .

Anyway, information on the flowmeter and kits would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the work you've put toward this awesome project.

Chimay is such a fantastic beer, isn't it?

Looks like you're in the Maryland area? It's cheaper for you to get Chimay kegs there than here in Los Angeles. The Chimay kegs that come to the west coast have to go through the Panama Canal so it's more expensive.

There's a place right near my apartment in Hollywood that unfortunately just was sold to a new owner. They actually have Chimay on their main price list (it's the most expensive keg I've seen.. A little over $200).

Because of the price, I haven't actually ordered one. The new owners haven't gotten the hang of keg sales yet.. I had a great relationship with the previous owner.. I don't think they sold too many kegs, but I purchased at least one a month and all I had to do was call and request any beer and it'd get delivered to the shop from the distributor the same or next day.

The new owners carry the chimay line and lots of it.. $8.50 for the large bottle (somewhere around a litre.. I think 75cl).
