Hi all,

I am a total newb so forgive me if I am repeating the question but I would like to try running kegbot on OpenWRT. I am just getting my project started but her it is in a nutshell. I work for company with 40 bar/restaurants. We have used commerical beer monitoring and found it expensive and lacking features. So I secured some money and started the project.

Right away I realized the need for network support preferrable wireless. Any existing code or projects offering this support? I saw a post about using OpenWRT as a serail to network converter but didn't find the details. So I hatched a different idea. I will need to monitor roughly 14 inputs. To do this and keep cost down I would place multiple Cisco NSLU2 routers running OpenWRT, kegbot and SQLite. I would then add my own application for transporting the data collected on each router to a centralized server. Am I crazy is there a better way already implemented out there.

My hope is to use my departments resources and company funds to build a trunkey hardware and software package with a robust web interface for monitor multiple kegbots in multiple locations.

Thanks,

Pete

I made a mistake regarding the hardware. The NSLU2 is not technically a router but a USB to Network storage device. Many have used them as simple linux NAS boxes. It technically doesn't have to run OpenWRT either. It can run Debian or Unbuntu and I was considering CentOS.

JLPete,
I really can't answer all your questions, but try checking out Mike's post regarding this subject. Basically you could run the kegboard_daemon on each remote NSLU2\OpenWRT device and then have the kegbot_core\database run on your central kegbot server.

Cheers,
