Hello all,
As a kegbot enthusiast, I am finishing up construction on a medium-sized kegerator and would really like to install some sort of flow meter on it. I'm not so much worried about portioning or flow control as that I would like to measure how much beer has been dispensed and at what time. Can you suggest any affordable flow meters? The ideal candidate would be an inline flow meter that somehow connects to a PC. Is such a thing available? Ideal cost: $50.
I appreciate all feedback! Martijn Stevenson
Thats the going rate for the flow meters we are using for this project, I can't tell you the make / model right now becuase I'm at work. $50 for the sensor is resonable, but it's going to take a little more that that to hook up to the pc.
Seems to me that you can use one of these flow meters, hook it up to a dallas one wire counter and do the math, to calculate almost exactly how much beer has flowed.
you'll need a few things to get started with the the dallas 1-wire stuff. http://www.aagelectronica.com/aag/
here is a kit to build a counter, I took this approach. http://www.hobby-boards.com/1wireboards/dc2-r1_dual_counter.html
I would recomend NOT buying the pc adaptor for a 1-wire network from dallas, or maximic becuase you'll get it about 3 months later or even longer.
